Leaders from the region’s tech ecosystem named to community’s executive council
SINGAPORE – Technology companies in the information technology (IT) channel, including managed service providers (MSPs), solution providers, technology vendors, distributors and channel consulting firms have a new ally in Asia with the formal launch of the CompTIA ASEAN Community by the leading association for the IT industry and workforce.
The community’s Executive Council, comprised of executives and leaders from 13 organizations across the ASEAN region[1], met recently in Singapore to establish priorities and plans for 2024.
“We had incredible engagement at our inaugural executive council meeting,” said MJ Shoer, chief community officer, CompTIA. “There is a universal commitment among the council members to work collectively in the months and years ahead for the betterment of the tech industry in the ASEAN region.”
Leading the CompTIA ASEAN Community are Shane Han, Sophos, executive council chair, and Michael Tea, Google, vice chair. Other council members include James Ang, Alex Anketell (Barracuda Networks), Keith Choy (Couchbase), Jin Chong (7-Network), Eng Hai Lee (Smarter Computer), Shaun Lee (Nanyang Tech), Hai Leng Tan (HPE Services), Hitan Meta (Acuutech), Lawrence Song Kin Chua (FUJIFILM Business Innovation), Hari Tharmakumar (Microsoft) and Dr. Jim Wagstaff (Jam Factory).
“Our executive council members serve as influencers and ambassadors,” said Rose Stamell, ANZ and ASEAN community manager, CompTIA. “Their experience and expertise will be invaluable as we work together to solve common business problems, grow the tech industry and promote career opportunities in the tech workforce.”
The ASEAN Community launches at a time when tech companies in the region have generally positive feelings about the industry, but acknowledge they are dealing with a market that is changing rapidly, according to CompTIA research.[2] Providing a superior customer experience, embracing emerging technologies and improving marketing and branding are among the challenges companies face.
CompTIA has six regional communities around the world – North America (United States, Canada), United Kingdom and Ireland, ANZ (Australia, New Zealand) DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Benelux (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg), and ASEAN.
