CompTIA ChannelPro Cecilia Galvin Scholarship Winner Announced

Sep 21, 2021

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the information technology (IT) industry and workforce, today announced that Isabella Ledet from Albany Academy in Albany, N.Y., is the 2021 CompTIA ChannelPro Cecilia Galvin Scholarship Winner.

The scholarship is named in memory of Cecilia Galvin, executive editor at ChannelPro Network and a passionate champion of women in tech who passed away in 2017. The annual award helps a talented young woman with an interest in technology launch an education in IT.

The winner of the $5,000 scholarship this year is a proven leader in her school and community and has demonstrated a strong interest in technology. The scholarship can be applied to a four-year college, trade school, or CompTIA certifications.

“Cecilia Galvin was an inspiration to many women in the technology community,” said Nancy Hammervik, executive vice president of industry relations and CEO of the CompTIA Tech Career Academy. “Isabella Ledet is a superb example of the energy and passion the next generation of young women is bringing to the technology industry and a fitting tribute to my friend Cecilia Galvin.”

Ledet, who plans to attend Villanova University next year, wants to study environmental engineering and continue her dedication to environmental projects such as clean drinking water for all communities and the preservation of lands and animals.

While in high school, Ledet won several other awards including a Science and Technology Department Award, which recognizes a student that embodies the ideal scientist in mannerisms, work ethic, intelligence, and personality, and the Bender Creative Writing Prize.

Previous recipients of the CompTIA ChannelPro Cecilia Galvin Scholarship are Sarah Johnson in 2018 and Destiny Adams in 2019.
