For the next Office Hours with James, join CompTIA Chief Technology Evangelist Dr. James Stanger as he investigates the modern web browser and how it’s used and misused in your lives online.
Office Hours Banner August

If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then your web browser is the window to your online identity. End users, pen testers, security analysts and folks who work in the cloud use web browsers every day in many ways. Legitimate companies and hackers alike target your browsers, because that’s where you spend your life online. After all, the browser is where all the action is.

Join CompTIA Chief Technology Evangelist Dr. James Stanger as he investigates the modern web browser and how it’s used and misused in your lives online. James will be discussing:

  • The elements of today’s most popular browsers, and then investigate how third parties take advantage of these elements
  • The privacy and security implications of the services we use and sites that you visit
  • Ways that browsers store credential information in cookies and other areas
  • The myriad of privacy and security issues that arise when other third parties gain access to primary data, as well as metadata found in your browser activity

From a pen testing perspective, he’ll conduct a real-time demo of a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack, which is one of the more common ways a third party can manipulate a browser.

If you’re interested in web browser security, then please join us for this discussion and valuable hands-on demonstration.
