Rep. John Huffman, R‑The Dalles and a number of Oregon lawmakers are looking to crackdown on the use of recreational unmanned aerial systems, better known as drones. The use of these small recreational devices has skyrocketed in the last few years as the technology has become both more affordable and easier to use. The increase in drone use has raised concerns from lawmakers as officials have complained about their use near wildfires, airports and other areas that have inhibited the flight of commercial aviation.
While the use of drones raises legitimate privacy and safety concerns, CompTIA recognizes the significant benefits of UA systems and strives to ensure that over regulation of these vehicles doesn’t unnecessarily curtail legitimate commercial uses.
