The idea for the community began with discussions between CompTIA leadership and members recognizing the need of IT solution providers to continually focus on their business direction and growth while embedded in day-to-day operations. A kick-off meeting was held at Breakaway last August in San Antonio. At a follow-up meeting in January, the community formalized its organization by establishing committees and electing a board.
The founding members of the community are leading IT and management consultants from across the U.S. They have a proven track record of success in the strategic and tactical services they will be offering to the IT industry:
- Business planning and strategy
- Service offerings (advisory, technical and managed services)
- Marketing
- Sales and sales management
- Service delivery
- Support services (human capital, education, internal IT)
- Finance (forecasting/budgeting, cash management, comparative information)
- Leadership and business management (soft skills, negotiation)
- Time management
Through the community and our Member Resource Center, CompTIA members will have access to an IT solutions provider business self-assessment, business training content and an online community member directory to identify resources that can help them with their specific needs.
The IT Business Growth Professionals Community will hold its third meeting during our Annual Member Meeting on April 6-7, 2011 in Chicago, and will provide members more information about its organization and services. In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments, please contact us.
