We congratulate all gubernatorial primary winners as they move into the next phase of the election in these summer and autumn months. As they consider the needs of the people in their states— especially needs that can be met in part via innovation and economic development — CompTIA State & Local Government and Education (SLED) can offer a valuable tech industry resource for their campaign and administration as they map out their policy and administrative priorities in the coming months.
As the primary winners plan for their administration and the impact they will have on the citizens of their state, CompTIA stands ready to assist them in implementing technology leadership across the enterprise. In addition, CompTIA has been a valuable, vendor-neutral resource for state governments assessing their own information technology needs. We represent technology vendors across the industry including telecom, hardware, software, innovation and systems integration. We have set up ‘vendor advisory councils’ in a number of states to inform and advise governors and other senior state officials on technology issues including procurement, cybersecurity, workforce, and innovation.
Technology has proven itself as not just another business line in government, but an essential tool for serving taxpayers, solving problems and creating efficiencies throughout government and across departments and agencies. Indeed, there are few problems that governors will encounter where technological innovation will not be part of the solution, and politics will be a large part of a new governor’s job. Yet, technology can and has been used to transform government services delivery by creating efficiencies, automating processes, enhancing workforce skillsets, and innovating business models.
CompTIA welcomes the opportunity to have a deeper discussion with primary winners and their teams on the specific ways our industry can assist gubernatorial candidates and their states as they further develop their plans to navigate states through this digital revolution.
