There’s something so appealing about starting a new year. It’s about starting fresh, setting new goals and the promise of what lies ahead. Then, the real work begins. We kicked off 2017 with a huge announcement – the launch of CompTIA AITP, a new membership opportunity for IT pros. The response has been fantastic! We already have more than 2,500 individuals interested in joining when we officially launch this spring. But this big announcement isn’t the only thing we have up our sleeves. This year promises to be full of new opportunities, initiatives and resources that will benefit our members. Here’s your sneak peek into what lies ahead in 2017!
New Resources
This year we’re planning to release more than 20 new research studies on a variety of topics. We’ve just released the 2017 IT Industry Outlook which predicts global industry growth in the coming year and identifies top trends. The new Cyberstates report is just around the corner too. This annual report presents a comprehensive state-by-state drill-down, showing the gains and losses in employment and wages in the tech sector. We’re also excited to introduce an online and print member magazine that highlights how CompTIA member companies and tech leaders are advancing the Internet of Things, cybersecurity and workforce development. You’ll see the first issue of the CompTIA member magazine at our Annual Member Meeting in Chicago, March 21 to 23.
New Training
We’re always looking for new ways to step up our game in the training arena. In the tech sector, staying ahead of the curve is a must and we are working on a robust curriculum of live training courses, webinars and guides that will help you do just that. For example, our forthcoming Six Steps to Success in the Internet of Things will help you understand the market, see what others are doing, formulate and plan and execute to conquer a new vertical.
Our State and Local Government and Education (SLED) Council is also putting together the highly anticipated Quick Start Guide to Winning Government Contracts. The first of its kind, this guide evaluates the market opportunity SMBs could potentially secure by finding and successfully bidding for IT contracts within various state, local or federal government contracts. And, the Do Your Job Better interactive video series will focus on principals of managing your technical staff.

New Initiatives

Our Human Services Information Technology Advisory Group (HSITAG) will release its second annual HHS State of the States Survey in October and SLED will establish a recognition program to highlight positive and innovative government projects throughout the year. SLED will also collaborate with NASCIO and Grant Thornton to produce the popular State CIO Survey this fall.
