Through our Educational Foundation, we enable people to improve their lives through employment in the IT industry. Our foundation’s services help at-risk individuals and populations under-represented in IT prepare for, secure and be successful in IT careers.
We've helped thousands of individuals, including military personnel and spouses. For instance last year, Christopher Venters, an Air Force veteran from Deleware, obtained several CompTIA certifications by way of the foundation.
In the summer of 2009, Venters completed his B.S. degree in computer network and security. A few weeks later, he attended a veterans meeting and learned about our Creating Futures program that assists soldiers transitioning out of the military. At the time, he was working part-time as a computing support technician at a local college.
“In the process of looking for a full-time job, I understood that certifications would make me marketable and valuable to future employers,” said Venters. “The Creating Futures program has open doors for me that would not have been possible otherwise.”
He’s now a full-time telecommunications technician and an adjunct instructor teaching “Intro to Computers/MS Office”.
“The certifications I obtained through the Creating Futures program were definitely beneficial to my career advancement at the Delaware Technical & Community College. However, I still plan on acquiring more certifications and education essential to maintain current on new technology and find further advancement within the IT industry. Thank you, Creating Futures,” added Venters.
Learn more about how the foundation is adapting its mission to help more individuals in need and provide avenues for them into full-time employment in the IT industry.
