Earlier this year, California Governor Jerry Brown (D) proposed a $122.6 billion General Fund budget plan for 2016-17 that makes significant increases in funding for education, healthcare and state infrastructure, while bolstering the state’s Rainy Day Fund and paying down state debts and liabilities.
Over the next few weeks both the Assembly and Senate Finance Subcommittees will meet and prioritize funding within the Governor’s proposed budget in preparation for the Governor’s May Revise. As such, CompTIA has outlined and positioned on a number of education technology items within K-12 and higher education. Specifically, the importance and need to integrate technology into the curriculum and pedagogy to optimize learning and ensure students develop the necessary digital literacy skills essential for success in the 21st Century workplace.
Last week CompTIA testified in both the Assembly and Senate Education Finance Subcommittees and continues to urge the state to invest in high-quality technology enhanced teaching and learning, along with providing access to the digital tools needed to solve problems and close the digital divide.
