The CompTIA National State Government Affairs (SGA) Committee met October 11th in Scottsdale, AZ during our annual State Tech Summit to discuss CompTIA’s policy priorities for 2018. Prior to the meeting, each policy committee was tasked with reviewing and updating CompTIA’s policy positions as they relate to education and workforce, environment, privacy, procurement, and taxation.
The policies were discussed and slightly modified to incorporate an additional focus on cybersecurity. The updated policy priority document will be presented to the Policy Executive Board (PXB) in December for final approval. Additionally, moving forward in 2018, the National SGA committee approved the formation of the “New and Emerging Technologies (NET)” committee which will specialize and focus on areas like autonomous vehicles, drones, artificial intelligence, 5G small cell deployment and the internet of things (IoT), just to name a few.
Following the SGA meeting, both members of SGA and SLED (State & Local Government and Education (SLED) Council mixed and mingled for a relaxing evening reception!
