Action Due July 5! Oppose Increased Tax Compliance Costs

In April, we noted that legislation had been introduced in the House to require a distinct physical presence as a prerequisite for the taxation of interstate business activities.  If this legislation is not enacted, businesses could be subjected to conflicting income tax requirements of competing states on the same transaction, and this will result in increased compliance costs. So now that this legislation has been introduced, how do we move it along?  The key is to show a broad base of support ...

The key is to show a broad base of support among businesses that are (and will be affected) by this growing compliance burden.  That is, we need to show Congress there is a strong constituency in favor of this legislation.

CompTIA is actively supporting this change in our outreach to Congress.  As part of this effort, we also have signed onto to a letter of support to the House Judiciary subcommittee responsible for moving this legislation forward.  We urge you to add your support to this letter also; the deadline is July 5.  To add your name, just send the name of your company as you want it to appear on the support letter to lwhitman@comptia.org.

We hope you will join us in opposing the never-ending spiral of tax compliance costs.
