Strata Finds Warm Reception on Global Stage

Our U.S.-based CompTIA executives finished up a world tour this month which focused, in part, on how IT certification is advancing on the global stage.  They found that CompTIA’s set of Strata certificates get a warm reception abroad.

CompTIA's Strata program offers fundamental-to-advanced certificates that validate a wide range of subjects in IT. Students and professionals holding a Strata certificate demonstrate that they have the knowledge required to enter and excel in IT and technology-related fields. Strata exams validate knowledge in several IT subjects, including green IT, technical sales and PC concepts.  Since launching the Strata program last year, voucher sales to take the exams have more than doubled worldwide for 2010.

In Singapore, two CompTIA Strata certifications launched this month.  NTUC LearningHub is promoting Strata IT Fundamentals, and the Singapore Infocomm Trade Federation (SITF) is embracing the Strata Green IT certificate.  The number of jobs in the IT industry in Singapore is forecast to increase to 80,000 by 2015. 

In China, Zhongnan University’s Adult Education Department is adopting Strata exams.  The Hunan Province Technical Vocational College and Hunan Petroleum Vocational College also will use Strata exams this year in their classes. 

On the other side of the globe, one of the hottest IT certificates opening doors right now in Africa is Strata IT for Sales.  A number of pilot programs have been launched. 

Prabashini Naicker, the HR director for Pinnacle Africa, remarked, “We believe that the knowledge gained from this particular CompTIA certificate (Strata IT for Sales) will assist our staff to better understand the products they are selling, giving them an edge and ability to meet out client’s needs.  CompTIA certifications are internationally recognized, ensuring Pinnacle Africa is keeping up with worldwide standards.” 

Since the pilot began, Naicker added, “We have noticed increased capability and confidence in terms of technical ability and understanding amongst our sales representatives.”
