In this summer of debt ceiling brinksmanship, CompTIA’s Breakaway Conference comes to Washington, D.C., August 1-4. While there is certainly quite a bit of drama taking place along the six-mile stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue between the Capitol and the White House, Breakaway is looking to have a calm, constructive focus on policy issues that impact your business. The co-located CompTIA Tech Summit on August 4th at Breakaway promises to deliver high-level panelists and thoughtful discussion.
The morning kicks off with an 8:00 a.m. breakfast featuring Congressman Peter Roskam (R-IL) who will share with us some of his views on small business IT issues.
From 9:00 a.m. to noon, we will hold two policy tracks focused on Cybersecurity and Healthcare IT. Make sure to get a good seat as Dr. Carolyn Clancy, the director of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, will kick off the Healthcare IT track with a keynote address. AHRQ is charged with evaluating the effectiveness of health policies and has distributed more than $300 million in grants and contracts in the healthcare IT space. We then will have terrific panels with federal and state government officials and leaders in the private sector on the status of HITECH act implementation and a deeper look at where the electronic medical records transition stands.
On the cybersecurity front we will take a close look at cloud migration for the government and private sector and the myriad of security issues that can raise; and we will get a jumpstart on the hot topic of mobile technology and its associated cybersecurity considerations. Don’t miss our cybersecurity keynoter, Allan Friedman, research director of the Center for Technology Innovation at Brookings. His work spans the social sciences, public policy and computer science, and has addressed issues ranging from electronic medical records to telecommunications policy.
We are thrilled to have the support of our partners, American EHR Partners, (ISC)2, MeriTalk and SINET for the CompTIA Tech Policy Summit and we look forward to seeing you there!
