Come Join the Latest Legends in IT at AMM 2012

Have you blocked off April 10^th-12^th to attend one of the most interactive and collaborative events of 2012? That’s when CompTIA will host its next Annual Member Meeting (AMM), with hundreds of IT channel executives and a number of IT Hall of Fame members expected to join in the festivities. Several of these “titans of the technology industry" will be honored during an induction luncheon held April 11^th during the Chicago event.

AMM gives attendees the chance to take part in a number of educational sessions and workshops that will help them improve their businesses. The collaborative conference offers a forum for solution providers to brainstorm ideas and share best practices with their peers, business coaches, vendors, distributors and other industry professionals. All CompTIA communities will hold formal meetings at AMM, furthering existing initiatives and evaluating new ones in order to promote their particular slice of the industry.

The annual CompTIA event offers a number of networking opportunities for IT channel thought leaders, entrepreneurs and other business professionals. It’s much more than a social gathering, allowing solution providers to meet new peers and forge alliances that can help them improve their business. They get an opportunity to strategize with like individuals on the issues that most affect their businesses, as well as the greater IT ecosystem. In the end, it’s all about productivity and efficiency, and AMM offers a slate of educational sessions and best practice discussions designed to help solution providers meet their long-term goals.

Honor the Industry Innovators

CompTIA took over responsibility for IT Hall of Fame in 2011, assuming the role CRN filled since the inception of the industry honor almost 15 years ago. The first class of inductees (in 1997) set the bar, with a number of channel icons including Bill Gates, Chip Lacy, Ed Raymond, Don Estridge, Rod Canion, Steve Ballmer, Steve Jobs and William Hewlett (and 7 others). The IT Hall of Fame recognizes the contributions of "game-changers" in two wings: IT channel and IT innovators.

While the standards remain high for new inductees, CompTIA is building on the legacy established by CRN with the creation of expanded web resources (in development) and by moving the induction ceremony to AMM. Otherwise, the IT Hall of Fame traditions continue, including the requirement that nominees have significant experience and an impeachable record of integrity and respect in the IT channel. Candidates must have left the position for which they are being nominated for at least two years, but nominees can still be working their magic and contributing to the growth of the IT community.

The IT Hall of Fame currently includes the names of more than 100 scientists, entrepreneurs, products and organizations that have made a “game changing” contribution to the industry. That number will increase when the next class is inducted at April’s AMM. The nomination process is under way, but will be closing on January 17^th!
